Dutch giant Phillips was initially behind the Australian operations, ramping up their local content from the mid sixties. Their Polydor label was used for an early compilation – Sample Bag – in late 1970, but it was the 1975 Ripper album – Fontana – that got the ball rolling. Once the Universal Music group was formed subsequent releases were made through the Polystar imprint.
